Man to sell life in internet auction

Ian Usher, from Perth in Western Australia, is offering his house, job, lifestyle and friends to the highest bidder in an online auction.

Mr Usher is single, 44, owns a house complete with spa, and goes skydiving and jet skiing.

But he was not looking for a potential partner when he put this information on the net. He was looking for someone to take over his life.

The Perth resident wants a new start after his marriage break-up and says all he wants to keep of his life in Perth is his wallet and passport.

He came to Australia from England in 2001, a year after getting married.

The couple bought a house, made friends, found work and enjoyed the relaxed lifestyle. But when the relationship ended, Mr Usher decided it was time to give it all up.

He is offering his furnished home, car, motorbike, jet ski and introductions to his friends to the highest bidder in an online auction.

"The home was something that we were building together and all the furniture in there was stuff that we bought together in the last home we had, so there is a lot of memories attached to it and sort of, that's in front of me on a daily basis," he said.

"So I thought, 'well, if I'm selling the house, how do I sell the stuff? Do I sell one piece at a time in the paper? Do I send it to an auction house or what do I do?'

"And then I was just hit with this idea, why not put it all together in one auction?"

Mac vs. PC

Mac vs. PCMac: In both the laptop and desktop showdowns, Apple’s computers were the winners. Oddly, the big difference didn’t come in our user ratings, where we expected the famously friendly Mac interface to shine. Our respondents liked the look and feel of both operating systems but had a slight preference toward OS X. In our speed trials, however, Leopard OS trounced Vista in all-important tasks such as boot-up, shutdown and program-launch times. We even tested Vista on the Macs using Apple’s platform-switching Boot Camp software—and found that both Apple computers ran Vista faster than our PCs did.

PC: Simply put, Vista proved to be a more sluggish operating system than Leopard. Our PCs installed some software faster, but in general they were slower in our time trials. Plus, both PCs showed weaker performance on third-party benchmarks than the Macs. Our biggest surprise, however, was that PCs were not the relative bargains we expected them to be. The Asus M51sr costs the same as a MacBook, while the Gateway One actually costs $300 more than an iMac. That means for the price of the Gateway you could buy an iMac, boost its hard drive to match the Gateway’s, purchase a copy of Vista to boot—and still save $100.

10 Things to remember about AJAX:

Life

I'll try to be not so dramatic bout this... ;)

Since I was in college, I had a passion for Computer Programming. I don't know how I came into programming. All I dreamed before when I was young is to be a Pilot or an Mechanical Engineer like my father.

The first Programming Language(PL) is encountered was BASIC(Beginners All-purpose Instruction Symbolic Code) which is really basic! It just funny that I don't really had a hard time learning it. I started to love web-based programming, since my 2nd year in college, when we had a subject about JavaScript. It was fun in that subject, some of my classmate had a hard time in that subject, but I don't.

PHP

I learned PHP all by myself. I never attended any seminars or any subjects about PHP. It just came to me that it was a great PL for web-based scripting. I love PHP! I love it than Visual Basic 6, which I also excelled in college. As of now, I am using PHP for more than a year and a half.

Web Developer life

You will experience pressures, like the client want the task to be finished in 1 day which a person can do it fast in 2 days. I learned a lot in my job. It is true that learning is beyond school and books.
