I conducted a small comparison test between Windows Media Player(WMP) and XMPlay. The comparison is done in Windows Vista Business edition and plays the same mp3 file, David Cook - Always be my Baby(Studio version).mp3 with the same setup of equalizer. It shows that XMPlay is way low memory load when playing, WMP consumes 18K+ of memory load while XMPlay only consumes 1.8K+. XMPlay even had Amplification adjuster set to +9.0db, which consumes added memory load.
What is XMPlay?
A low resource and compact audio player that plays MP3, OGG, WAV, WMA, CDA, etc. No installation required for this application, just extract it to a folder and you're done! The folder doesn't have to be in your Program Files folder, your Desktop is good.
